Book Themed Baby Shower

A few weeks ago some of my favorite ladies hosted the most beautiful baby shower for our little girl that will be arriving in just a short 7 weeks! (eeks!!) So first of all... a huge thank you to my mom, my sister-in-law Aimee, my good friend Sarah, and my mother-in-law!  I just wanted to share some pictures from this very special day. Everyone put in a ton of work and all of the little details made the shower so special!

Me and my momma!
My shower was storybook themed; guests were asked to bring a book instead of a card and the food was all based on different storybooks. There were so many creative juices flowing! Below are some pictures of the table and the favors: Bookworms (gummy worms) and bookmarks!

Sarah made every bookmark different and had photos of the book on one side and quotes from the book on the other! I took a couple of my favorites to nestle in the books I'm reading!

Though difficult to see in the picture, my mom also made books with all of the sheets needed to play games. They were bound with a pen to write with and a pocket with an envelope for guest to write their addresses on for thank-you cards.
The cupcake stand cost only $2 to make! I simply hot-glued a candlestick to a plate courtesy of the Dollar Tree and VOILA!

The next things to feature are the food that was served! I hope I can remember it all!!! Every dish was based on a book. Above the dish was a picture of the book the food was based on! I think it was a total hit! The food was so, so, so amazing! Peruse the pictures below and the menu!

Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type: Sloppy Joes
True Story of the 3 Little Pigs: Bacon-wrapped cocktail weenies
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs: Meatballs
The Giving Tree: Taffy Apple Salad
The Very Hungry Caterpillar: Fruit shish-kabobs and dip
The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales: Cheese and Sausage Tray
Peter Rabbit: Vegetable Tray and Dip
In the Night Kitchen: Doughnut Holes
Goodnight Moon: Moon Pies
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie: Chocolate chip cookies
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Hershey miniatures
Harry Potter: Butterbeer
The Penguin That Hated the Cold: Slush Punch

The games were also fun and very well thought out! We played the Price is Right with baby items (which I did horribly at, by the way), the dirty diaper game (my most favorite baby shower game EVER!), a storybook scramble, and no shower is complete without BINGO (and prizes)!

Some of the items used for The Price is Right game
There I am, trying to figure out what candy bar was melted in that darn diaper.
I cannot express how grateful I feel for all of my friends and family that ventured out on that rainy day to help me celebrate the upcoming arrival of my little one and all of the gifts that were sprinkled on her! Andy and I feel truly blessed!
